BABY-FACED
Scottish six-piece, Croft, confirm their early promise on a debut album
bursting with ideas, talent and attitude. An all-instrumental line-up,
they sound at times like Capercaillie with a harder rhythmic edge, while
backing beats and drumming techniques are akin to Shooglenifty. There
fusion influences lean towards funk and acid jazz cut with traditional-style
melodies. As a statement of intent and ambition, it’s an impressive
document.
